Humanity is all but extinguished after a war with Partials—engineered organic beings identical to humans—has decimated the population. Maybe I read it too early after The Scorch Trials let down or maybe Partials' impact on me is just really like that, but I'm sad to say that it was just "meh" for me.

The world building was great. The plot line was good. But the characters were mostly two-dimensional. They have some personality, yes, a great deal of the time, I have to remind myself that they're there, that they're the one's doing to talking and action. They weren't as fleshed out as I would've liked. We didn't know much of how they met. (Marcus and Kira, anyone?) Or where they're from? (Pretty much all of the supporting characters but Xochi.)

Partials was favorable. It was fast paced but quite predictable. I enjoyed all the science talk though, even if I get lost halfway through. I really would've liked it more if it didn't feel like such a stranger.
